Do you set New Year’s Resolutions!?
Can you believe we are full swing into a New Year!!!??? Did you set any goals or resolutions? Have you broken them already? LOL!
I generally don’t set resolutions, although I don’t see anything wrong with doing so. I think it’s important to have the desire to change in order to improve yourself. So if you’ve set new goals and resolutions, just know that I’m rooting for you!
As for me, instead of setting a resolution, over the last few years I’ve established a core Bible Verse that I memorize and attempt to live out all year to develop and grow in my spiritual life.
What is #OneWord?
This year, however, I decided to try the One Word approach. Essentially, the One Word approach, similar to a resolution, is a word that describes an area of your life that you want to focus on throughout the year.
As you may or may not know, I can be a bit contrarian…LOL…so I ended up with two words!
Initially, my #OneWord was POWER. I want to experience God’s power in my life on a new level. And to learn how to operate in the Spirit of Power instead of the Spirit of fear when facing challenges or new opportunities. Even though Power is a strong word, I felt like I needed something else to help me experience that kind of Power.
For Power to have an impact in my life, I realized that I must have WISDOM. Specifically, God’s wisdom and not my own.
Thus, my two “One Words” for 2018 are WISDOM & POWER!
If this has made you think about choosing your own One Word for the year (or even the month) watch the video and download the checklist to get a jump start…It’s never too late to start!
You have two very powerful words. God is going to rock your world this year with wisdom and power. I pray you find a deepening in the process and God teaches you well. It is great to meet you today. I love that you came to visit my blog. What a blessing to find new friends!
Hi Mary! Thank you for those prophetic words and encouragement! So glad to find you as well…be blessed!
Neca, hello, I just stumbled on your website earlier today while looking at examples of doing a vision board for my planner. I have been practicing “one word” for a number of years but your video and checklist is so simple, concise and thought provoking. My one word for 2018 was and is “arise”. And God used the word in my life in such a tremendous way! I am about to embark on a new path and direction here in January! I am excited but at 52 there is some trepidation BUT…I have chosen two (2) words for 2019 but I will share that one of them is “fearless”. God wants me to be fearless and trust Him more and I want that too! Please continue to be a blessing and an encourager! As I embark on this new adventure, I want to be fearless!
Hi Gretchen! It sounds you are in for an amazing year…don’t let trepidation stop you – Arise and Be FEARLESS!!!!! God is always with you…he’ll never let you fail! Thank you so much for stopping by and for your kind words! God bless you!
Hi Neca, I felt impressed to take on the one Word “FAITH” and my Pastors spoke on that word the next few weeks.(Hot from the throne room, they were going to speak on something else but was directed by the Holy Spirit to speak on faith. Then today, I took a quiz that said courage. Well, they both kind of go together. This year had me ill in my body, but GOD delivered me from it and I am in remission now. I am retiring on Monday and have signed up to assist in Sunday school. I just want to do all that God wants me to do. I am blessed by your articles and words of encouragement. Blessings to you!
Amen! I pray that your faith grows beyond bounds in 2019! Be blessed!
