These two questions are the quintessential questions that we ask to understand our existence but for now I’ll use them to introduce myself and the purpose for this website.

As for the first question – Who am I? My name is Neca Smith (pronounced ‘Knee-Kah’…NOT like “mecca”) and to say I have had nine lives would be an understatement! I’ve been a licensed professional counselor/therapist, corporate trainer, consultant and entrepreneur just to name a few. And though all of those things have been extremely rewarding at times and extremely frustrating at others – I had to leave them all behind because God had other plans for me.
Soon after celebrating my 40th birthday (I like to call it the Fortieth Edition of Neca C. Smith…but I digress…) my life came to a grinding halt. From business failures, financial failures, relationship failures and more, I was fit to be tied. I was so discombobulated that it took me a while to realize what God was doing. But eventually I caught on.
God had led me to the wilderness for me to unlearn the independent spirit that had been a gift at one time to learning complete and total dependence upon Him…to “Lean on the Everlasting Arms” as the old hymn says.
I began to realize that this wilderness experience was a necessary training ground, as it was for the Israelites, and there was no way to escape it. At that point I began to pay attention to what He was teaching me.
– I learned spiritual patience and how to wait for God instead of walking ahead of Him.
– I learned how to sacrifice and surrender to Him, instead of holding on to things that no longer (or never really did) served me.
– I learned where faith really came from instead of trying to conjure it up myself.
– I learned who Jehovah Jireh was as a person, not just a name I praise when I get what I want.
It was hard, it hurt, it wasn’t fun, I didn’t like it at first… but I liked who I was becoming and quite frankly, am still becoming…. God’s GreatBIG version of me! I could go on and TRUST me…I am still learning lessons of which you will likely hear all about in time to come on this site.
So enough about me, now let me answer the question, WHY am I here? Well, I started this website/blog quite simply because this where God led me while in the wilderness experience.
I had asked sincerely and persistently, “God, what is it that you want me to do next?”. He answered by calling me to help other Christian women like me to find purpose and meaning everyday and under any circumstance so that they could live victoriously for Christ.
Of course I felt inadequate, imperfect and unqualified… which if you’ve read the Bible at all, you know those are the types of people God loves to call and equip. As the old saying goes…He doesn’t call the qualified…He qualifies the called!
Forever the Curious George, I wondered what other women at a similar stage in life were thinking in terms of their Christian walk. So I sent out a short 3 item questionnaire to a few friends and asked them to share with their friends. These were the questions:
– What is the #1 Greatest Challenge related to your walk with Christ?
– What is the greatest question that you have for God at this stage in your life?
– Outside of attending church services and reading the Bible, in what way(s) would you like to incorporate the Word of God in your life to a greater degree?

As a result of that questionnaire and the Word that God had spoken to me, I was led to develop this website — a blog devoted to assisting Christian women at a spiritual crossroads in their life, single or married in the following areas:

- Seeking God’s Purpose for Your Life
To put it simply, I’m here to serve you with all of my gifts and experiences so that YOU can find your true significance in Christ and live the GreatBIG victorious life you have been designed for! I hope you join me!
